Run the Jewels Samples Gang Starr's "Dwyck" on their Latest Single "Ooh LA LA"

The track lists DJ Premier and Greg Nice as featured artists.

Run the Jewels joined Apple Music's Beats One Radio host Zane Lowe via FaceTime this week. The critically-acclaimed duo debuted "Ooh LA LA," the first single from their long-anticipated Run the Jewels 4 album. The track features DJ Premier and Greg Nice. The track samples Gang Starr's 1994 classic single "Dwyck."

"There's not a lot of classic undermined golden age material that hasn't been turned into a jam," El-P said. "I've been plotting on this for probably the last three albums. We don't intentionally do old school music, but our influences and who we are come from an era that is very real."

"I've been listening to this damn sample for like 15 years," he continued. "I'm going to be very honest with you Zane, this is the first [sample] we could afford."

The duo addressed current events, as their upcoming tour with Rage Against the Machine was postponed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

"The toughest thing is that we really wanna share [music] with the people that have supported us," El-P added. "We love the music, we think that this is our best record. It was exciting to us to be on the verge of being on a huge global tour with Rage Against the Machine. So there are disappointments, obviously. But at the end of the day man, what the f*ck can you do?"
