It’s been eight years since Sade released a full-length album but according to her longtime collaborator Stuart Matthewman that may change soon.
“We’re working on a new album,” Matthewman said in an interview with Rated R&B, adding that Sade and their creative team have “a bunch of songs.”
“When we’re happy, then we’ll let everyone else hear it,” he said.
No other information about the forthcoming album is known.
Earlier this year, Sade released her first new song in seven years. Titled “Flower of the Universe,” the song appeared on the A Wrinkle In Time soundtrack. There were two versions of the song: one which featured Sade accompanied by acoustic instrumentation; the other, a remix of the track by producer No I.D.
“I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway. She was kind + giving. A goddess,” A Wrinkle In Time director Ava DuVernay said on Twitter when she revealed Sade’s inclusion on the soundtrack. “We began a journey together that I’ll never forget. Proud to announce that Sade has created an original song for WRINKLE IN TIME. It’s entitled ‘Flower of the Universe.’ And it’s a dream come true.”
