Sampha And Syd Are A Perfect Match On New Song "Show Love"

Sampha and Syd have teamed up for a new song titled "Show Love." Recruited by XL Recordings owner Richard Russell as a part of his collaborative project Everything Is Recorded, the mid-tempo R&B track finds Sampha and Syd trading verses with one another, with both artists speaking to the challenges of controlling their egos.

In an interview with Noisey, Russell that the Everything Is Recorded project is about "transcending the ego," adding, "There are some processes out there where people are going out of their way to make songs to be hits, to be commercial—that puts its weight on things. We weren't doing that. We were trying to make things that were exciting, you get a certain feeling from."

Russell has also worked alongside artists such as Giggs, Warren EllisWiki, Ibeyi, Kamasi Washington, and others as a part of his Everything Is Recorded project.

Syd recently served as the headliner for a show Okayplayer curated as a part of Red Bull's 3 Days in Philly event. Alongside openers St. Beauty and Ravyn Lenae, Syd took the crowd in attendance at Philadelphia's Trocadero through a wonderful night, with the Internet lead singer going through tracks from her latest EP Always Never Home, as well as her debut solo album Fin.
