A newly surfaced Kanye song titled “Wait On God” features the rapper addressing his issues with Drake.
The track which was reportedly recorded ahead of the release of Kanye’s Jesus Is King album includes a hook where West declares “I’mma wait on God” and “Been too long away from God.”
During one moment on the song West says, “He funny though. He gon' move the No. 1 rapper four blocks down the street from me. You funny, God.” This section addresses God having a “funny ass sense of humor” by explaining how close Drake lives to him.
Later in the cut, Kanye candidly shares that he went to a Denny’s for a meal when he nearly ran into a Drake look alike. He rapped that he almost stopped the person to have a conversation:
"I seen a tall light-skin dude with a beard and shit. I said, 'That looks like Drake right there.' But he was, like, on a skateboard. I said, 'I know that ain't gonna be Drake on a skateboard.' I was, like, 'Man, I'mma go talk to him right now.' So I pulled and turned the car around."
Another Drake-centric moment on the track includes the Chicago rapper reminiscing on a previous bar from his College Dropout song “School Spirit,” “I said on my first album I'mma make sure light-skinned n****s don't never come back in style.”
In December when speaking on his relationship with Kanye on the Rap Radar Podcast hosted by Elliot Wilson and “Brian B. Dot” Miller he noted that their relationship which was once good has been dismantled by “personal situations,” reports Complex.
On Kanye, Drake also shared:
“There's something there that bothers him deeply and yeah, I can't fix it for him. It just is what it is. I could never ever ever ever turn my back on the things that I've said about him in a positive light, and I still feel all those same things.”
He also praised West for his artistry and his albums 808s & Heartbreak, College Dropout and Late Registration. Listen to "Wait For God" below.
