Joe Budden Apologizes for Firing Podcast Co-Hosts Live On-Air
The former Joe Budden Podcast co-hosts also shared statements regarding their very public disbanding.
Earlier this week, Joe Budden sent his podcast co-hosts, Rory Farrell and Jamil "Mal" Clay, packing in a rant that has since gone viral. But it appears Budden is feeling something resembling remorse for his handling of the situation.
In the latest episode of The Joe BuddenPodcast, the rapper and reality TV star apologized to at least one of his former anchors. "Seeing all of this feedback and all this—I do need to apologize to Rory, as well. Maybe Rory and Mal, too, but definitely Rory," Budden said at around the 54-minute mark."Me and Rory have so many fly n***a moments together," the rapper recalls. Like, it’s unfortunate that they might not feel that we’re so friendly today and it’s unfortunate that I can’t tell you how we got here, maybe aside from—if I’m taking accountability—poor leadership skills," the host goes on to admit.
Budden's tone wasn't quite as nostalgic in his last transmission. Budden went on a tear during the show's Wednesday episode, blasting both Rory and Mal for reportedly requesting documents related to the show and failing to bring in deals as they renegotiated their stake. "You n—-s can audit, you n—-s can sue, you’re gonna lose," Budden said. The rapper's recently rekindled relationship with disgraced former Everyday Struggle co-host, DJ Akademiks, is also factoring into the tension within the podcast crew. "Rory thought that our friendship was in turmoil because I may work with Akademiks again in the future. "I’m sorry if they feel that’s an indictment against our friendship," Budden said.
For their part, Rory and Mal each issued responses to their very public dismissal first on Twitter separately and then in a joint video statement posted this morning. "I feel like Joe feels like a lot of the success of this podcast is based over his music career," Mal said in a clip from the hour-long video titled, I'll Name This Response Later (see below.) "And my thing is, it’s not. I [sic] been in some of these cities when you were a rapper, Joe. This many people weren’t showing up for you," Mal adds.
