Flying Lotus to Release 'Flamagra' Instrumental Album in Honor of its Anniversary
He celebrated the news by releasing the "Black Balloons Reprise" instrumental.
Less than a month before the first anniversary of his sixth album, Flamagra, Flying Lotus made a special announcement. On Monday, he revealed he'd be releasing the album's instrumentals on limited edition double vinyl. To celebrate, he also released the official instrumental for "Black Balloons Reprise."
"Whereas the original album featured a dream cast of vocal collaborators," the press release reads, "this project places the masterful arrangements, electronics, and musicianship at the forefront...a treasured peek under the hood of one of today's most consistently innovative producers."
Producers like Thundercat and Grammy Award-winning producers Robert Glasper and Herbie Hancock, as well as Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Brandon Coleman, and more contributed to the album. Metacritic gave the album an average score of 80, based on 27 total reviews.
