"My next guest needs no introduction..." Chance says to a group of high schoolers as "This Is America" begins to play. The students then charge to the front of the stage as Glover appears to perform the song. A video of the performance was caught by Malcolm London, one of the co-hosts of the Open Mike event.

"Open Mike Chicago was started by a group of friends over three years ago after losing a mentor we all shared in Brother Mike Hawkins," London wrote on Twitter. "I host the open mic with Chance. It now belongs to the next generation of Chicago's youth but Brother Mike's legacy lives on through service."
Recently, Glover offered some details about the third season of his critically-acclaimed show Atlanta, where he compared it to Kanye West's third album Graduation.
"I align the seasons I think, to me, like Kanye records. I feel like this is our Graduation," Glover said at an Emmys FYC screening and panel for Atlanta on Friday night. "This is probably our most accessible but also the realest — an honest version of it — and I feel like the most enjoyable, like the third album."
