Maryland-bred R&B singer Brent Faiyaz has unveiled his latest album, Fuck The World.
After staking his claim in the industry with previous projects like Sonder Son and Lost, Faiyaz returns to roll out a 10-track EP. The soulful compilation is equipped with eloquently written tracks that force listeners to evaluate themselves under a magnifying glass. Fuck The World allows the singer-songwriter to shine, especially because the production isn’t heavy-handed.
In a recent interview with Vice, Faiyaz touched on he is aiming to accomplish with this release:
Fuck the World to me is embracing the good shit. The overindulgence of sex, money, bullshit but also saying fuck the world. Shit is fucked up. The good shit and the bad shit, the yin and the yang. That's why I like that specific expletive because it can mean both things."
Our favorite tracks on the album include the previously released single “Fuck The World (Summer In London),” “Let Me Know” and “Bluffin” Since “Fuck The World” was the first single to drop from this album it provided a glimpse into the sound of the project. While “Let Me Know” digs into his feelings about self-love, trauma and more. “Bluffin” which is placed towards the end of the album is another staple since it covers what it feels like to be in a tumultuous situation with someone. “Rehab (Winter In Paris),” another cut we’re obsessed with includes the singer dwelling on a love lost, the issues she dealt with and features a melancholy beat.
