‘Michael’ First Trailer Released; Social Media Reacts

The Antoine Fuqua-directed biopic stars Jaafar Jackson and is due to hit theaters in spring 2026.

The first trailer for Michael, the big-screen biopic about the life and career of Michael Jackson, has been released. On Thursday (Nov. 6), fans got their first official look at Jaafar Jackson, the King of Pop’s own nephew, as Michael himself, in the hotly anticipated film directed by Antoine Fuqua

The film’s synopsis reads: “Michael tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life beyond the music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of the Jackson 5, to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world.

“Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before. This is where his story begins.”

Jaafar Jackson’s father is Michael’s famous brother and former bandmate, Jermaine Jackson. The movie will also star Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael; Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson; Nia Long as Katherine Jackson; Kat Graham as Diana Ross; Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy; and Miles Teller as Michael’s lawyer, John Branca.

“It’s uncanny how much he’s like Michael,” Fuqua told EW earlier this year egarding the Jaafar. “Sounds like him, dances like him, sings. It’s really uncanny. Graham King, who is a fantastic producer, found him, and introduced him to me, and I was blown away.”

“Just to tell the facts as we know it, about the artist, about the man, about the human being. You know, the good, bad, and the ugly.”

Michael is due to hit theaters on April 24, 2026.

As to be expected, fans reacted across social media to the first look at the big movie.
