Watch the Latest 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' Trailer

The new trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has released, with Billy Batson and his team battling Hespera and the Daughters of Atlas.

After nearly four years of anticipation, Shazam! Fury of Gods is almost here. On Thursday (January 26), a new trailer for the DC Films epic released, with protagonist Billy Batson (Zachary Levi) and his crew being faced with giving up their powers to villain Hespera (Helen Mirren) and the Daughters of Atlas. By saying the magic word "Shazam!" Baston turns into a superhero with the "wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury," according to the original Captain Marvel and Shazam comic book series.

The new trailer – set to Drake's 2013 hit "Started from the Bottom" – reintroduces Batson who approaches ancient wizard Shazam (Djimon Hounsou) to take his powers back, before the latter persuades him to take on Hespera and her dragon in a fight to save the universe. The trailer also has a couple of Game of Thrones references with Baston confronting a giant dragon in the Phillies' baseball stadium.

The film also stars Lucy Liu as Kalypso, and Rachel Zegler as Anthea with David F. Sandberg returning as director. Upon its release in 2019, the inaugural Shazam! was the No. 1 film worldwide, going on to generate $366 million globally.

Here's the full synopsis from DC's website:

Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.
