"Ain't None Of It True": Paul Mooney's Sons Deny Sexual Abuse Claims Against Their Father
The claims were made by Richard Pryor’s former bodyguard, Rashon Kahn.
In a recent interview, Richard Pryor‘s ex-bodyguard Rashon Kahn claimed that the late comedian put a hit out on Paul Mooney after he learned that he slept with his son, Richard Pryor Jr. Now, Mooney’s twin sons have come to their father’s defense.
Speaking with Comedy Hype, Daryl and Dwayne Mooney said that their father has yet to address the scandal because he’s not aware of it. (Following reports of Kahn’s claims, a publicist for Mooney did say that “there is no validity to Rashon Kahn’s statement as it relates to Mr. Paul Mooney.”) The brothers also denied that Mooney canceled his recent appearances at the Atlanta Comedy Theater because of the claims.
“Paul Mooney ain’t hiding. Paul Mooney is not well,” Dwayne said. “… He doesn’t even know what’s going on right now, with all this Richard Pryor stuff. He don’t need to speak on it. We’re speaking on it. We’re his oldest sons…”
The twins then addressed Kahn directly, with Daryl saying:
“Rashon, f**k you. OK, coming out with some bullshit like that when Paul is ailing, after he’s old. If the s**t was hot, you should’ve told that shit years ago. Richard Pyor Jr. ain’t say nothing about it, so why you gonna tell somebody’s business.”
“Ain’t none of it true. It’s all lies. It’s all gossip,” Daryl continued. “Until Richard Pryor Jr. steps up to the plate and says somebody did something, then it’s true. Other than that, it’s just haterade…If this happened, how old was he? You say he was a little boy, but then you say the timeline is different. Was he 19? Was he 20? Until Richard Pryor Jr. comes out with it, we don’t—I don’t know. ‘Cause people can say any damn thing, especially you’re hating on somebody.”
Shortly after Kahn’s interview came out, TMZ asked Richard Pryor Jr. about the claims, to which he responded, “Whatever happened in my life, it happened when I was young. Way before the ’80s.”
