Michael Che is making history

Starting next season. Michael Che will have a new role on Saturday Night Live. NBC has announced that Che, who is the co-anchor on Weekend Update, will join the head writing team of SNL. This is notable because Che will become the first non-white head writer in SNL’s 42 year history.

Also joining the head writing team is Colin Jost, who co-anchors Weekend Update with Che.
