Kendrick Lamar is Teaming Up with The Creators of 'South Park' to Produce a Live-Action Comedy

The still-untitled project will mark the film debut of Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free's recently launched pgLang company.

It appears Kendrick Lamar has far more than a TDE finale in the works for this year.

According to a Deadline report, the Compton rap star is joining forces with South Park creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, to produce a live-action comedy for Paramount that already seems like it will be nothing short of absurd. The premise of the still-untitled big-screen project -- which will mark the debut film debut of Lamar and Dave Free's recently launched pgLang company -- centers on a young Black man, who interns at a living history museum as a slave reenactor, discovering his girlfriend's ancestors once owned his.

The project has yet to land a director. However, four-time Emmy-winner Vernon Chatman (writing room alumni of The Chris Rock Show, LouieThe Conan O'Brien Show, and more recently, Trigger Warning with Killer Mike,) is handling the script. "On behalf of Paramount Pictures and the wider ViacomCBS family, we look forward to ushering in the first theatrical collaboration from these creative visionaries, and galvanizing audiences worldwide around a powerful storytelling experience,” says Paramount Pictures CEO, Brian Robbins.

While its Lamar and Free's first time out in the film landscape, Parker and Stone have developed some of the most lauded and controversial animated and live-action films of the last 30 years, including South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, Team America: World Police, and Baseketball.

Stay tuned for updates on the film's title and release date in the months ahead.
