Jada Pinkett Smith has broken her silence. In a recent episode of Red Table Talk, the actress spoke on the Oscars 2022 incident where her husband, actor Will Smith, slapped Chris Rock for making a joke about Jada's alopecia. Now, Jada has come to the table with her feelings about forgiveness and reconciliation.
My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile," Jada began. "With the state of the world today, we need 'em both, and we all actually need one another more than ever. "Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years — and that's [to] keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening."
In Wednesday's episode, Jada explores the topic of alopecia, including guests who have struggled with the condition in the three-part special. The episodes will air from Wednesday to Friday.
Since the incident, Will Smith has publicly apologized to Chris Rock on social media, saying that he "reacted emotionally" because the "joke about Jada's medical condition was too much for me to bear." Although he won Best Actor for his portrayal of Richard Williams in King Richard, Smith has since resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The actor later went to India to practice yoga and meditation to find "healing" after the Oscars.
