A new film, God Said Give 'Em Drum Machines: Lost Stories of The Detroit Underground, is on the way from directors Kristian Hill and Jennifer Washington.
Their passion project is poised to illuminate the "true origins" of techno. Exported from the Motor City by a British produced, the electronic music culture of bloomed into a $7.1 billion dollar global industry, but left its originators mostly broke and without recourse in a crumbling city.

According to a recently launched Kickstarted campaign, the film has been an entirely independent venture for the filmmakers. Reaching the eleventh hour, Hill and Washington are asking for donations to finish the film. Funds will be directed towards music clearances, graphics, coloring, and animation, to bring the piece across the finish line.
