Donald Glover Gives Fans an Inside Peek Into the 'Atlanta' Writers Room

Boosting anticipation for season three of Atlanta, Donald Glover has posted a behind-the-scenes look at the show's writers room.

The March 24th return of Atlanta is almost here. Two weeks following the debut of a new trailer for the FX series, Donald Glover has posted exclusive film camera shots and videos from the writers room on Instagram.

The show's writing team — including Glover's brother Stephen — look cozy in the candid photos, with one shot of a screenwriter rolling up on a 2019 issue of Billboard. In the photo dump, Glover gives fans a glimpse of the chill environment of his Los Angeles "temple", which he last referenced in a 2020 conversation with Michaela Coel for GQ.

"I have this studio in Los Angeles that I call The Temple and that I just sit alone in. I’m actually travelling [sic] there right after this. I sit there alone and I try to meditate and figure out what that voice is. And you just let it come out, just vomit it out in whatever way is possible," Glover said.

Finding his voice alongside the Atlanta team, the footage was captured in 2019 and 2020, when scripts for seasons three and four were completed. In one 5-second clip, Stephen portrays Black Panther villain Killmonger while other clips include a writer tower of bottles being knocked over and impromptu jump-roping. Notable Atlanta writers include Stefani Robinson–who was the youngest person and first woman on the team upon being hired–Taofik Kolade, Ibra Ake, Jamal Olori and Fam Udeorji.

In 2020, Glover tweeted that the forthcoming seasons of Atlanta are Glover referred to the forthcoming seasons as “some of the best television ever made,” adding that “sopranos only ones who can touch us.”

The third season of Atlanta will run for 10 episodes starting on March 24th, each episode available to stream on Hulu the day after its initial broadcast premiere on FX.
