One random tweet has spawned thousands of memes about December 21st.
Over the last couple of weeks, many Black Twitter users have joked about Black people receiving some sort of superpowers on December 21st. The tweet has made its way to TikTok and Instagram, leading to widespread confusion from users on all platforms. How did this running joke get started?

Like most jokes in 2020, the commotion surrounds a thread about the COVID-19 vaccine. On December 5, Twitter user @lottidot replied, accusing the government was using the vaccine to change our genetic code.
As black people, genetically we are stronger and smarter than everyone else, we are more creative, on December 21 our Real DNA will be unlocked and majority will be able to do things that we thought were fiction. Learn who u are as a people 👩🏽🦯 they wanna make us average

When asked what the government would gain from doing such a thing, @lottidot revealed the larger plan at hand, effectively saving 2020 for part of the world’s population.
