Chris Rock Returns to Netflix for Upcoming Live-Streamed Special

On Christmas Day, Chris Rock announced that Netflix will host his second stand-up special, a live-streamed event, on March 4.

Netflix is introducing their live streaming technology with legendary comedian Chris Rock. On Christmas, the New York-raised entertainer announced his first live-streamed stand-up special on the streaming platform, where he'll perform live from Baltimore, Maryland on March 4. Titled Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, the comedy event marks Rock's second Netflix special since Tamborine in 2018.

The special also makes the first time Netflix is utilizing live streaming, which the streamer first announced in May, per Deadline.

“Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation,” Netflix’s VP of stand-up and comedy formats, Robbie Praw, said in a previous statement. “We’re thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment and we’re so honored that Chris is carrying this torch.”

Selective Outrage will also be Rock's first televised comedy special since being slapped onstage at the 94th Academy Awards by Will Smith. Rock, who declined to press charges against Smith, subtly alluded to the now-infamous assault during various stand-up shows he's held across the country in 2022, including Los Angeles comedy festival Netflix Is A Joke.

During a comedy tour stop in London earlier this year, Rock told fans that he'd "eventually" talk about the Oscars incident on Netflix, which will stream live on March 4, 2023 at 10pm ET/7pm PT.
