Beyoncé Thanks Paul McCartney for “Blackbird”
Bey finished the London stint of her Cowboy Carter Tour and gave a shout-out to the former Beatle.
Beyoncé had a word of thanks for SirPaul McCartney. As the music icon closed out the Cowboy Carter tour’s six-show run at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, she posted her gratitude to the former Beatle on her Instagram. Bey famously covered McCartney’s Beatles song “Blackbird” (stylized as “Blackbiird”) on her Grammy-winning album, Cowboy Carter.
“Thank you, Sir Paul McCartney, for writing one of the best songs ever made. Every time I sing it, I feel so honored. And it is a full circle moment to wear your beautiful daughter’s design,” Beyoncé wrote in her Instagram post, also acknowledging Paul’s famous fashion designer daughter, Stella McCartney.
The BeatlesMcCartney’s master recording is used in Beyoncé’s version, which also features Black female country artists Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts and Tiera Kennedy.
Beyoncé’s IG post served as a “thank you” to her fans in the U.K. From there, her tour moves to Paris on June 19.
“Thank you, London, for creating unforgettable memories for me and my family,” she wrote. “Holla at ‘ya when I come on tour again!”
