The new D'Angelo track comes from the soundtrack for Red Dead Redemption 2.

D'Angelo is back. The Black Messiah artist has released a new track titled "Unshaken," which comes from the official Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack.

The track reflects the western theme and tone of the video game with minimal percussion accompanied by piano and bass.

"May I stand unshaken," the singer croons throughout.

Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack was announced last week prior to the game's release but there was no mentioning of D'Angelo. A fan noticed the track and uploaded to YouTube while BBC Sounds played the track during a recent radio show.

Earlier this year came reports that the soul singer was recording new music. In a previous report from NME, management for the artist issued a statement speaking on a postponed gig in the UK, saying that "D'Angelo has been working in the studio, deep in the recording process."

"He apologizes to any fans that this announcement might impact and is excited to see you all in June. We thank you for your continued patience and cooperation and look forward to an amazing tour," the statement concluded.

D'Angelo's surprise appearance on the Red Dead soundtrack brings to mind Sade and how she debuted a new song through Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle in Time (she also contributed a new song to Steve McQueen's Widows film).
