It's time to once again rise and shine, all for the sake of seamless sound. We're bringing you another Mixtape Monday roundup of choice material sourced from all across the airwaves and have prepped a lineup that's sure to put you in a springtime kind of mood. Most importantly, we're leading off with the world premiere of DJ Rampage/Rampage Global Sound's latest "Raw & Rugged" mixtape, a blend of some of the finest golden-era hip-hop that's 100% guaranteed to get you feeling some kind of nostalgic way. Beyond that we're cruising toward a brand new "Face Off Fridays" set from DJ Rasta Root, some true-to-form Major Lazer wildness, a dose of Soulection and a dash of Street Etiquette. Yes, you're probably a bit tired, a little cranky and sour about the work week, but we've got the kind of jazz to keep you head nodding all the way through. Get to getting--these mixes won't play themselves.

When Okayplayer debuted volume 1 of Rampage Global Sound's "Raw & Rugged" mixtape series, we knew we were on to something. Led once again by DJ Rampage, this newest volume comes comprised of throwback hip-hop gems sourced from the mainstream and underground to equally excellent degrees. The soiree kicks off with Queen Latifah's classic ladies' anthem "U.N.I.T.Y." and cruises on through cuts from De La Soul, ATCQ, Beatnuts, Gangstarr, Busta Rhymes, The Pharcyde and, well, you get the idea. Keep in mind it's a collective project--"Raw & Rugged Vol. 2" once again calls upon the talents of DJ Fatfingaz and Yos, who both man the decks with skill to spare.  It's been a while since we've heard such a proper old-school session, loaded up with dynamic scratching (check the "Oh My God" chops!) and airtight crossfading, so get up on this one right now before you proceed to the rest of the roundup. This bit of "Raw & Rugged" goes down nice n smooth.

DJ Rasta Root continues with his grade-A "Face Off Fridays" series with a mixtape that's nothing but gritty top-tier hip-hop from front to back. Acts like Slum Village, Diamond D & Rapsody, Talib Kweli and Mr. Tony Starks himself all make appearances in this short but sweet mix, which should serve as a once-again reminder that Rasta has an ear for rhythm and taste that other DJs would do anything to get. As "Pump ya Brakes" flows seamlessly into Ghostface's "Here I Go Again," lean back and savor the beauty of it all.

Preserved for all our listening pleasures is Dam Funk + San Francisco-dweller Sweater Funk's double team all-vinyl set of, well funk. A roving hour of 80s synth strut and late 70s instrumental disco, the mix hits its boogie stride at roughly the 35 minute mark, but is essential listening material front to back for any earnest fans of boogie, slap bass, drum machines or sheeny vocal work. Imagine Tubbs & Crocket relaxing on an LA rooftop, cracking jokes with Grace Jones and Nile Rodgers and you'll be on the right track. Much love to Stones Throw, as always. Stream Dam Funk's set below and listen to Sweater's warm up mix here.

We can't say it enough: women need an even bigger place in hip-hop and the realm of mixtape productions. That's why when we come across a mix celebrating the musical prowess of female artists, it's a sure thing we're going to bring it to your attention. It's even sweeter when the mix-maker themselves is a woman, although in this case we'll settle for DJ Nate Geezie's "D.C. Wonder Women" set. Nate gives the brilliant female artists of the D.C. area. We're talking the new grooves of Maimouna Youssef, Mya, Tamara Wellons, Ari Lennox and so many more. The set made its premiere over at SoulBounce and we're more than happy to give it our own stamp of approval. For Geezie's full fifty minutes the ladies put it down front-to-back. More mixes like this asap, please.

For all their contributions to the hip-hop landscape as we know it, Cash Money Records still doesn't get enough credit. Hopefully we can correct a bit of that in 2015, and Aussie selector Levins's all-CMR set is a great start. Hard and heavy with works from U.N.L.V., Pimp Daddy, Lil' Slim and (of course) the Hot Boys, Levins's set is a trip through the classic era of Cash Money Recs and might be the idea sampler of the label's earlier years.
