PLANN.B x DJ Cam - Destination Mixes 01: Paris

PLANN.B connects with DJ Cam for the first of his Destination Mixes series. The pair take listeners on a journey through the City of Lights to translate Paris’ role in Cam’s musical evolution.

In the first installment of PLANN.B's Destination Mixes, we travel to Paris and connect with iconic French DJ & producer, DJ Cam. A Parisian native, Cam quickly became one of the most influential figures of the abstract jazz, downtempo and trip-hop movements after dropping his masterful debut, Underground Vibes, in 1995. During the years following his first album, the French beatsmith continued to drop a series of critically-acclaimed LPs, including Abstract Manifesto, The Beat Assassinated, Liquid Hip Hop and his Soulshine LP, which garnered global notoriety after the Anggun-featured "Summer in Paris" climbed charts worldwide. Throughout his celebrated career, DJ Cam has been remixed by and collaborated with names including J Dilla, Guru, DJ Premier, Cameo, Thievery Corporation, Lord Finesse, MC Eiht and Kenny Dope. Tapped by PLANN.B to bring his signature sound to the Destination Mixes, the French producer comes correct with an all-wax set of the original Jazz breaks sampled for iconic records by Q-Tip, Pete Rock, DJ Premier and more of his favorite hip hop luminaries. PLANN.B kicks things off with an ode to DJ Cam's musical roots by drawing on both classic and contemporary jazz sounds, pulling some of his favorites from BADBADNOTGOOD, Roy Ayers, Taylor McFerrin and Flying Lotus.

L.A.Z. - No Paperwork

Clear Soul Forces alum L.A.Z. represents for the strivers with the debut No Paperwork EP. Six tracks deep, the solo project driven by L.A.Z.’s animated flow sports dusty production that plays like a nod to foundational west coast crews, especially Hiero and The Alkaholiks. There's also a smidgen of Slum Village in there...and sometimes trap.

No Paperwork is the soundtrack to being a starving artist in transition, but still moving to the beat of your own drum and keeping it about the music…
