The Wu-Tang Clan's 1-Of-1 'Once Upon A Time In Shaolin' LP Is Heading To The Auction Block

It's time to start saving, fam. The Wu-Tang Clan's ever-awaited (not-so-secret) 1-of-1 album Once Upon A Time Shaolin appears to be on it's way to auction, according to RZA. Despite it's brief appearance in Skrillex's latest visual for "Fuck That" and the subsequent rumors of the EDM champion's purchase of the album, it is, in fact, still up for grabs according to Forbes, who secured a statement from Bobby Digital announcing the album's imminent auction on Paddle8; an online auction house that has handled pieces by Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst and the gamut of high-artists.

There will also be an official press conference dealing with the auction at the end of this month (the 28th, to be precise) and a micro-site with the track listing for the album will soon be made available as well. Paddle8's Sara Goulet claims :

“This is being positioned both by the Wu-Tang Clan and by Paddle8 as a work of art.  “It’s truly treating this album, which very well may be the last album that the Wu-Tang Clan makes together, as a one-of-a kind, special property that is worth the price.”

All of which is perfectly in-line with RZA's vision for this piece, except for the part about this potentially being the last album Wu makes together, as the album's producer Cilvaringz has already explained that beats were shipped out from his mountainside retreat to individual members of the group to record their verses, which is hardly a group effort in my book. In any case, if you're the trust-fund type, here's the perfect opportunity to blow that inheritance on something for the culture. Stay tuned for the latest on the sale of Wu's Once Upon A Time In Shaolin in the weeks to come.
