Tuxedo - 'Tuxedo Funk' EP [Download]

These days, the music industry seems to be loving mystery collabos (see 2012's Captain Murphy craze if you've been living under an internet-resistant rock). This time around, the sound that has the cyberweb all abuzz is the freshly-released Tuxedo Funk EP (not to be confused with Suit & Tie ish -ed. note) - and it is quite honestly 3 tracks of pure disco-funk hot fire. Rumored to be the brainchild of Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One, the music produced under the "Tuxedo Funk" title could be a genre all its own, as it sounds like just that: smooth, synth-heavy disco-funk that never loses its tongue-in-cheek classy touch - even when Mayer Hawthorne (or not-Hawthorne, we still have no confirmation) croons "Girl, let's get the f*ck up outta here" on the slow jammer, "Get U Home." The equally mysterious twitter account for the group lends no clues, besides announcing the EP's arrival ("Tuxedo is here! Stay classy, twitter.") - and the fact that @tuxedo was not a registered twitter account before these guys came on the scene leads the author to believe this was a project divinely ordained by the lords of funk themselves. In case you don't get the picture, what I'm trying to tell you is that this is highly enjoyable. Download the Tuxedo Funk EP below and just be thankful someone is making music like this, even if we never find out who made it. But hopefully we do.
