SZA & LaKeith Stanfield Get Flirty In Upcoming 'Shirt' Music Video
SZA and Oscar-nominated actor LaKeith Stanfield star as romantic interests in the upcoming "Shirt" music video on SZA's sophomore album.
SZA and Atlanta star LaKeith Stanfield get acquainted in a flirtatious teaser for "Shirt" from SZA's upcoming sophomore album. A clip posted to social media on Wednesday (October 26) shows the two eating at a restaurant while SZA, whose real name is Solana Rowe, discusses "energy." Seated next to Stanfield's character is a disgruntled friend who complains about the conversation before Rowe shoots him in the face. The full Dave Meyers-directed music video will premiere on Friday, October 28.
Last week, the Grammy-winning singer accidentally released "Shirt" on Spotify before removing it during the release of new Taylor Swift album Midnights.
While performing at Austin City Limits on Friday, October 14, Rowe teased that the "Shirt" music video was originally supposed to release that day.
“That was true,” she said. “But, it didn’t come out because I looked at the video, and I was stressed at one small thing in the video. But I fixed that, and it’s turned in and about to come out. That’s the truth.”
She continued with expressing that she wanted to deliver her long-awaited sophomore album to fans.
“If I wouldn’t be in so much trouble, I wanna sing all new songs, cause y’all deserve it," she said.
Earlier this month, Rowe discussed her upcoming album in a Complex profile, saying that it was "all over the place."
“I don’t even know what this album is about and what it sounds like,” she said. “Which is why I had to go to the mode of what feels good to my brain and to my energy and the songs that I think are hot, I just have to go with them. I have no idea what it sounds like to anybody else. I really don’t know. It’s so bizarre. It’s weird that I can’t put my finger on it. It’s a little bit of everything. It’s a little aggressive. Some parts are incredibly soft. Some of them are ballads.”
