Deray McKesson Schools Colbert On White Privilege, Discusses MLK's Legacy On The Late Show
Anyone who's kept at least a thumb on the Black Live Matter movement can likely identify one blue-vested crusader at the head of many subsequent discussions. That blue vest belongs to one Deray McKessonand he's proven to be a powerful and precise voice in the continued struggle for social and economic justice in the wake of so many fallen black men, women and children at the hands of our nation's far-from-finest.
Last night, concluding a heart-wrenching day of remembrance on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, McKesson took to The Late Show to sit with host Stephen Colbert and dissect the root and the expression of white privilege in the US and how one can further the conversation without flaunting that very privilege. Of course there's a comedic edge to it all, but the disparity between white and black privilege has never been so expertly and comprehensively discussed on late-night TV.
