Snoop Dogg commemorated the 4/20 holiday with a limited edition vinyl Doggystyle boxset.

Snoop Dogg gave his 1993 debut Doggystyle the 4/20 special. In partnership with Gamma, the Long Beach native released a limited edition exclusive called Doggystyle: The 4/20 Vinyl Box Set. With a numbered run of just 420 copies, Doggystyle: The 4/20 Vinyl Box includes a 16-page booklet with Joe Cool artwork and Death Row rolling papers. 

Although the initial drop sold out in 30 seconds, Snoop and Gamma may re-release the boxset on Friday (April 21). Last February, Snoop’s newly acquired Death Row Records announced a partnership with Gamma, which now has exclusive global rights to market and distribute the Death Row Records catalog. In March of this year, the Death Row Records back catalog was returned to DSPs, including albums from Snoop (Doggystyle, Tha Doggfather), 2Pac (All Eyez on Me, The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory), The Lady of Rage (Necessary Roughness), and more.

“I bought my first album at 11 years old, with my allowance money. That album was Doggystyle. I was so worried about how explicit the cover was, that I hid it in my bedroom so my parents wouldn’t see it,” Gamma co-Founder and CEO Larry Jackson said in a press release.

Jackson added, “The album’s music and its provocative cover left an indelible stamp on how I view hip-hop. It is with profound pleasure that we are now partnering with Death Row Records, the greatest hip-hop catalog of all time, and with my dear friend Snoop.”

After its release in November 1993, Doggystyle debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 806,000 in first-week sales. The LP would go on to be certified 4-times Platinum the following May.
