Skratch Bastid & The Gaff "Soul Sisters Stand Up!"

Monday... Easily the least loved day of the week.  That's why Mixtape Monday isn't Mixtape Tuesday or Mixtape Friday.  We know how hard it can be to get through that first day back at work after the weekend, so cue up these OKP approved mixtapes and listen to the time fly by...

Skratch Bastid & The Gaff Soul Sisters Stand Up!

This 80 minute mix of female soul and funk hit our inbox early this morning and almost didn't make it to this week's Mixtape Monday, but one listen to Skratch Bastid & The Gaff's Soul Sisters Stand Up! and we had to include it! In the works for most of 2012, Soul Sisters Stand Up! is well crafted, solid, and FUNKY.

OG Ron C x Frank Ocean "Channel Purple"

OG Ron C x Frank Ocean Channel Purple

At first glance, I thought this was mixtape was going to be some ill-advised mash-up of Frank Ocean's Channel Orange LP (heard of it?) with selections from Prince's catalogue.  Y'know... Prince... Purple... Fortunately that's not the case.  OG Ron C takes the R&B singer's album and pours a giant styrofoam cup of that purp all over it resulting in a drastic "chopped not slopped" reimagining of the phenomenon that is Frank Ocean's debut album.
