Reks Teams Up With Large Professor For "Gone Baby Gone"

Many rappers don't last more than one album in a business where fans and trends can be flighty. But this weekend, with the release of single "Gone Baby Gone," Reks is accomplishing a true career milestone: his 10th studio album.

The Boston rhymer Reks dropped his latest project this weekend, an ambitious double album called The Greatest X (pronounced as "The Greatest Unknown"). To celebrate the occasion, he reunited with Large Professor for the song "Gone Baby Gone." On the song, the Main Source cofounder lends one of his timeless boom bap productions while Reks unleashes a flood of multisyllabic rhymes.

Large Professor isn't the only standout producer on The Greatest X. As with his previous albums, Reks enlists the best. The Alchemist produced the single "Kites," on which Reks writes letters to activist/author Mumia Abu-Jamal and to the South Carolina church terrorist Dylan RoofEvidence, Statik Selektah, Nottz, Apollo Brown, Black Milk, Buckwild and STREETRUNNER also contribute sounds to the record.

“Over the past two and a half years I have been recording songs with the understanding this would be album number 10 for me and thus something monumental” Reks said in a statement. “The Greatest X is a valuable addition to my catalogue; and an important album for hip hop period. I liked the idea (double-album) because it would represent something special for album number 10. The Greatest X is more of an experience than it is an album. It is one of my proudest accomplishments.”
