Quavo Shares Emotional Tribute Song to Takeoff, "Without You"
On Wednesday night, Migos member Quavo posted a tribute song to longtime collaborator and nephew Takeoff, titled "Without You."
Quavo reflects on the loss of his late nephew and fellow Migos member Takeoff in new tribute song "Without You." Posted on Wednesday night (January 4), the song comes two months after Takeoff's passing.
“I wish I had a time machine / Just so you can take a ride with me / I miss how how you smile at me / Unc & Phew until infinity," Quavo sings on the track, referencing his and Takeoff's debut album as a duo, 2022's Only Built for Infinity Links. Along with the song's release, Quavo shared a video for "Without You" that finds him smoking in a studio while listening to the emotional track.
Quavo last spoke on Takeoff's death during the rapper's memorial at State Farm Arena in Atlanta in November, followed by an Instagram post with the full speech.
“You were always with me and we did everything together. Since we was kids, you’ve been by my side, looking up at me with them eyes," Quavo said during the event with 21,000 in attendance. “You never competed with me. We were always on the same team ’cause you hated playing against me ’cause I always played too hard or too rough.”
Takeoff was killed at Houston's 810 Billiards & Bowling. While at the downtown bowling alley, Quavo and Takeoff were at a party with approxiamtely 40 to 50 people when a dice game reportedly got heated, resulting in shots being fired. Suspect Patrick Xavier Clark was arrested in early December. Last week, a Texas judge denied Clark's petition for bond to be reduced from $1 million to $300,000.
