Mixtape Mondays: Dego, DJ Rich Medina & Yoroku Saki

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Somehow we have managed to make it to June and it's still a little overcast. A bit gloomy, even. Don't fret. Summer has yet to decide whether it's staying for good, but a good summer mix is a foolproof way to get over a crappy day. This week we've got mixes from Dego, Rich Medina and Yoroku Saki. Dego kicks off Mixtape Mondays this week with a set that will suffice even with a chance of rain. Rich Medina picks up the pace with a live set recorded during a recent jaunt to Paris. He warms it up with a little afrobeat and ends with a lesson in straight dope. Yoroku Saki rounds it out for the late night with a crazy set of jams that pay homage to the art of boogie. Check these tunes while you're stapling the TPS reports. Don't let Monday bring you down!

It's pretty much a given that Dego needs no introduction. It certainly goes without saying that the name Dego and dope are generally synonymous with respect to music. This mix is no exception. He delivers a fresh set of tunes that combines ambience, ill lyricism and crazy instrumentals. He caps things with a bit of commentary on production. Check his equipment hierarchy below. Jump on the mix after that.

why do all the process of recording a mix records when you can make music instead....minimoog > turntable, obxa>cdj, bass guitar>traktor, drums>beat matching etc etc etc...zzzzzzz

Dego/2000black - It aint summer! Put some clothes on!! Mix

Rich Medina delivers a classic taste of his discerning ear as he burns down the dancefloor at Djoon for this live mix from his April 5th set at the Paris club. There isn't much to say about Rich Medina that has not been said before. I will offer two things: 1. He's a living legend 2. Don't miss his parties. Ever. In the meantime, check the mix below for a proper dose of hip-hop and house.

Rich Medina - MEETS Party Exclusive Mix live at Djoon in Paris, Friday April 5th 2013

Have you ever danced in your underwear in front of a mirror? Did you enjoy it? This is the mix for you. The special brand of joy this set imparts is evident as soon as it seeps from the speakers and compels you to shake your padded shoulders. Yoroku Saki put his foot and a few elbows into the second installment of the Heart On My Sleeve mix. This is a comprehensive dose of boogie that moves swiftly through the evolution of the two-step. Go home and push the gain on this one. Toss your galoshes aside and shake the Mondays off properly.
