Knxwledge Drops Hypnotic New Instrumental "Jstowee"

Minutes ago Knxwledge shared a brand new instrumental off his upcoming Hud Dreems LP. Entitled "Jstowee," the short but sweet cut is a flurry of ideas all locked within a single hypnotic groove. The Stones Throw producer sets things off with a ambling funk bassline wrapped in looping vocals and popcorn claps. Shakers clatter, snares roll, and the track somehow syncopates in all directions while never losing focus--textbook Knxlwedge if we've ever heard it. Only 70 seconds in to the track, however, everything changes, and we're doused in the breeze of a jazz interlude. Knxwledge pulls back on the drums, brings up the xylophone, and lets everything gradually coast back down to earth. And so "Jstowee" is a golden coin with two very different sides. It opens hot, closes cool, and is at all times buttery-smooth.

The hip-hop world got a crash course in Knxwledge's production approach by way of the liquor bottle-clank beat of "Momma" off Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly, but the beatmaker has drafting up off-kilter beats for years already, and has amassed a massive catalog of work, all of it fantastic. On May 5th Stones Throw will drop his newest LP, entitled Hud Dreems, which you can pre-order via ST's website here. Listen to "Jstowee" below and get set for more from this wise one.
