Khari Mateen - Qualia: Fall [EP]

Two weeks ago OKP favorite and The Roots affiliate, Khari Mateen, hopped right back on our radar (though he never really leaves it) with his powerful dedication to American veterans suffering from PTSD with "Where Did They Go."  As we mentioned, the song was part of a bigger project, Qualia, which just dropped moments ago. Qualia: Fall is a 6-track, self-produced EP with splashes of blues, folk, rock, soul, and classic r&b music. Read some words from Khari below, and then head to his site to get the full experience. You can get all six tracks, below.

This fall marks the beginning of something I have been wanting to do since my last record “Wait for Sunrise”. Using artistic mediums and collaborations with many thinkers, explorers, musicians, life enthusiasts, and people that want to be around expression and conversation; comes a collection titled “Qualia”. I chose to stylize the music in the first release, “Qualia: Fall” with references to Blues, Folk, Rock, Soul and classic R&B music. I imagined the music listened to with friends that understand you, maybe even helped you off the floor once or twice. The lyrical content spans from war to love, something I’m sure we all have experienced or been previewed to.
