Also announced alongside Lamar include U2Sam Smith, and Elton John. The artists join other performers who were previously announced, such as Childish Gambino, SZA, Cardi B, Kesha, and Lady Gaga.

Lamar is up for seven nominations at this year's Grammys, only one nomination behind Jay-Z's eight. The ceremony will take place on January 28 at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

Currently, Lamar, along with Top Dawg Entertainment, is curating the soundtrack for the forthcoming Black Panther film. So far two singles from the album have been released: "All The Stars" and "King's Dead."

"I am honored to be working with such an incredible artist whose work has been so inspirational, and whose artistic themes align with those we explore in the film," Black Panther director Ryan Coogler said. "I can't wait for the world to hear what Kendrick and TDE have in store."

"Working on such a powerful movie is a great opportunity," Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith added. "We're always working on new goals at TDE, so teaming up with Disney, Marvel Studios and the Black Panther film makes perfect sense."
