Gorillaz Features Trugoy the Dove On New Song "Crocadillaz"
On new Gorillaz album Cracker Island (Deluxe), Trugoy the Dove of De La Soul features on track "Crocadillaz."
The late Trugoy the Dove of De La Soul and Gorillaz have reunited 18 years after the Grammy-winning "Feel Good Inc." On Gorillaz's eighth studio album Cracker Island (Deluxe), Trugoy, legal name David Jude Jolicoeur, appears on bonus track "Crocadillaz" with Dawn Penn. Also appearing on the deluxe version of Cracker Island are Del the Funky Homosapien ("Captain Chicken"), MC Bin Laden ("Controllah"), Adeleye Omotayo ("Silent Running") and a remix of "New Gold" featuring Tame Impala and Bootie Brown.
Jolicoeur died earlier this month at 54, just weeks ahead of De La Soul's back catalog release to DSPs. To celebrate the first-time digital release of their albums 3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul is Dead, Buhloone Mindstate and more, the group is holding a free-to-attend event at Webster Hall in New York named “The D.A.I.S.Y. Experience.”
The DA.I.S.Y. Experience”—named for the group’s song “D.A.I.S.Y. Age” off 3 Feet High and Rising, and standing for “Da Inner Sound Y’all”—will morph Webster Hall into the ultimate celebration of De La Soul on the eve of the group’s music arriving on streaming services March 3," reads a statement for the event.
Scheduled for March 2, the Amazon Music-sponsored activation is a dedicated to Jolicoeur, with a special DJ set from The Originals (Stretch Armstrong, Rich Medina, and Tony Touch). The Amazon Music channel on Twitch will also air a livestream of interviews with De La Soul's friends and special guests attending at Webster Hall throughout the night.
