Electronic music pioneer Giorgio Moroder returns at 73 years young to reestablish himself as the osiris of electronic dance music. His epic reemergence comes partially at the behest of the Red Bull Music Academy, who marked the momentous occasion by pairing Moroder with DJ Chris Cox for his debut DJ set this week in New York City. The party was one of several events that highlighted RBMA's month-long event series. Upping the ante, Moroder schools devotees of his pioneering style with "Racer" - a buzzing bass beast that hearkens back to his disco roots and totally explains Daft Punk in under four minutes. The track doubles as the original soundtrack to the multi-player mobile game of the same name. Moroder's appearance on Daft Punk's latest LP is a huge score for The Robots and a great nod to his massive legacy, established in 1977 with the release of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" - a completely electronic production that landed at the height of sweeping orchestral arrangements in disco music. True to his original sound, "Racer" embraces and underscores new technology while paying homage to the groundbreaking talent of a true originator. Listen to Giorgio Moroder's "Racer" below.
