On April 28th, Gorillaz will release their first new album in seven years. If you're new around these parts, you should know that we're very excited about this.

So much so that we're already thinking about the Gorillaz songs we won't hear. Later on today, Damon Albarn will appear on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show, where he will premiere a new Gorillaz song with Pusha T and Mavis Staples.

A super quick preview of Albarn and Lowe's conversation hit the net a little while ago. In that clip, Albarn talks about the Gorillaz songs that he still has in the stash:

“I’m just sort of slowly going through all tunes that sort of didn’t work out and finishing them,”

Albarn says that he “can stay in the game for at least another 18 months" and that he has “40 or 45” songs to work on.

This is exciting to think about when you consider that we haven't even heard Humanz, Gorillaz' first new album since 2010's Plastic Beach.
