Big K.R.I.T. Reminisces Over Working w/ B.B. King On ESPN's 'Highly Questionable'

These days things are going pretty well for Big K.R.I.T. The Mississippi MC scored a great success with 2014's Cadillactica LP, and is about to start a massive 'Kritically Acclaimed' live tour later this month. He also, apparently, has been cruising around in his "86" Monte Carlo, which as we all know is a great way to spend the day.

But life wasn't always so easy, and on a new episode of ESPN's "Highly Questionable," K.R.I.T. pulled back the curtain and shared memories of his toughest days. Back around 2009, the rapper was just barely making it, stringing together paychecks by producing and mixing records for a bunch of no-name artists, selling beats for "dirt cheap" and second-guessing his decision to devote his life to hip-hop. "I didn't know if I was going to really be able to continue making music," K.R.I.T. said. Still, the man can't help but smile as he remembers making music in his grandma's kitchen (with a recording booth set up in the bathroom, as you do), and singles out his personal "I made it moment" as the second he clinched a collaboration with blues guitar legend B.B. King.

The collaboration ultimately became the single "Prayer Man," and K.R.I.T. recalls exactly how it felt to get in the studio with King. "That was when I was like 'This is real. This is far beyond what I ever would have imagined,' and how powerful just music can be. Cause it's one thing to talk about something and another thing to be able to create it and make it happen for other people to listen to," he said.

"That was probably the most moving and touching moment of my life...I can't say I'll ever top that moment, ever."

Watch Big K.R.I.T. chop it up with ESPN below and get yourself to one the many shows on his tour itinerary, which is after the jump.
