After many, many Jay Electronica posts containing tantalizing news but no new music, the blogosphere is currently bugging out to the sounds of "Dear Moleskine"--a track previously only heard in teaser form. Since our own Dantana was there (in Nepal, no less) with super-director Jason Goldwatch at the scene of the teaser video (above) we decided to get his firsthand perspective on the (brilliant) track:

Back in the fall of 2007, when traveling through Asia, Jay Elec had with him a computer with scores of beats, loops, and drafts of songs, including "Dear Moleskine."  Upon arriving back in the states, Jay moved to Brooklyn around the time when he cut the vocals for this track at the Just Blaze's defunct Bassline Studios).  It was initially intended to be one of the songs on the Decon/Dogon joint venture that would accompany the film (working title Into The Light), the beginnings of which were shot in Nepal and Dubai. We've had the whole song for some time but never leaked it. I've had it, to be clear. Can't just be leaking sh*t without folks getting mad.

Dan identified the photos of Jay in ritualistic face-paint standing next to a saddhu (hindu asectic)--some of which are apparently being incorporated into the recently-leaked cover art for Act II -The Patents of Nobility as shots taken by Goldwatch at Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, Nepal and shared a few more Goldwatch shots from the trip with OKP.
