Albums We're Excited for in April

Earl Sweatshirt to Thundercat, this month is going to see a diverse shower of high-profile releases from an interesting collection of big names.

It’s known for Easter egg hunts and rainy days, but April is a month of awakening. Winter is fading and spring finally gets sprung—and on the music front, this month has quite a few major releases that should have fun’s geeked as we get closer to the summer. 

We’ve got eagerly-anticipated joint albums from MIKE, Earl Sweatshirt and Surf Gang as well as Oddisee and Heno; plus a new project from Thundercat. Arlo Parks is set to drop his latest the same day. 

For the O.G.’s, Snoop Dogg is dropping his new album this month—and we also get new heat from Akon; plus there’s an interesting project that sees Chuck D teaming up with John Densmore of The Doors. 

Kehlani drops her self-titled album and Honey Dijon unleashes her latest. So let’s dive in…

These are the Albums we’re excited for in April.

Thundercat - 'DISTRACTED'

Release Date: April 3

It’s been six years since his last studio album, so fans are understandably eager for the bass guru’s fifth project. This time around, there’s a new ingredient in the form of a new creative partner - the super-producer Greg Kurstin.

Earl Sweatshirt, Mike and Surf Gang - 'POMPEII/UTILITY'

Release Date: April 3

Their longstanding friendship has finally yielded a full length project. All three acts dropped acclaimed projects last year—now, fans get this ambitious, 33-song double album—and tour. 

Snoop Dogg - 'TEN TIL MIDNIGHT'

Release Date: April 10

The Doggfather is a rap institution at this point. Uncle Snoop returns with his latest; and the album is accompanied by a short film of the same name, directed by Luis De Pena and Yaslynn Rivera.

Arlo Parks - 'AMBIGIOUS DESIRE'

Release Date: AprIl 3

The third studio album from the English singer-songwriter, it’s a project steeped in the pulsing rhythms of dance pop. Even with a new style, the introspection is still very Parks. 

Honey Dijon - 'NIGHTLIFE'

Release Date: April 14

It’s been four years since her last full length album. This 14-track record is rooted in club culture and features include Greentea Peng, Bree Runway, METTE, Jacob Lusk, Rochelle Jordan and Mahalia. 

Yaya Bey - 'FIDELITY'

Release Date: April 17

The Brooklyn-based singer returns with her fourth album. She’s indicated a very personal project—heavily inspired by the death of her father, Juice Crew legend Grand Daddy I.U. 

DoPe (Chuck D and John Densmore) - 'NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN'

Release Date: April 18

A pair of icons from different branches of the musical tree joining forces. Releasing for Record Store Day, the two music legends get together for a project that features spoken word and no shortage of social commentary. 

Akon - 'BEAUTIFUL DAY'

Release Date: April 22

The superstar hasn’t dropped a full album in seven years, but his new project boasts features from SIMIEN, DJ/producer OCHOK, Stephen Marley, Tears of Joy, Ozuna and more.

Kehlani - 'KEHLANI'

Release Date: April 24

Coming off her Grammy win in 2025 for “Folded,” (also included here) the singer-songwriter is set to drop a thirteen-track project described as her most personal yet. And its release date coincides with her 31st birthday. 

Oddissee and Heno - 'FROM TAKOMA WITH LOVE'

Release Date: April 30

It’s a project that Heno has said is “dedicated to the home that raised me,” and it features Oddisee’s distinct production.
