2Pac’s Sister Honors the Late Rapper During Hollywood Walk of Fame Unveiling

Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, the younger half-sister of 2Pac, delivered an emotional tribute to the late rapper and actor during the Hollywood Walk of Fame, attended by YG, DJ Quik, Allen Hughes, and more.

Nearly 27 years since his tragic murder, the celebration of 2Pac hasn’t ended. On Wednesday (June 27), a posthumous Hollywood Walk of Fame unveiling was held for the late rapper and actor. His younger half-sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur was also presented with a resolution by the City of Los Angeles to honor the work that 2Pac, legal name Tupac Shakur, offered to the community, along with his cultural impact.

“2Pac knew deep down that he was always meant for something great. As his little sister, I had the privilege to watch that greatness unfold,” she said. “From the first time he stepped foot on stage at the Apollo Theater at 13 years old before anyone recognized his name, he knew he had the dream to have a star here on the Walk of Fame.”

She continued, “Not only paying tribute to his contribution to the music industry but speaks volumes to his lasting impact on this world. Today, we’re not just honoring a star on the ground but honoring the world and the passion he put into making his dreams come true. His heavenly star will shine a little brighter today.”

Four years 2Pac’s junior, Sekyiwa is the daughter of political activist, member of The Black Panther Party, and author Afeni Shakur, who died in May 2016. Most recently, she and 2Pac were the focus of the Allen Hughes-directed FX docuseries Dear Mama.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame event also arrived a little over a week shy of what would’ve been 2Pac’s 52nd birthday. Those in attendance included Hughes, YG, DJ Quik, Mike Epps, Treach of Naughty By Nature and more.
