Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon Martin's Mother, Says That She Has To Forgive George Zimmerman

Six years have passed since Trayvon Martin‘s death, with the events of the teen’s unfortunate end resurfacing in a new six-part documentary series called Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.

Recently, Sybrina Fulton, Martin’s mother, spoke to Gayle King of CBS This Morning about the docu-series as well as recounted the moment she opened the “Pandora’s box” of evidence the Department of Justice gave to her three years after the 17-year-old was killed.

“In the box is everything that Trayvon had on. His hoodie. His pants. His T-shirt. His socks. His shoes. His cell phone. His money. The drink. The candy. Everything is in the box,” Fulton said.

Initially, she never wanted anybody else to see or touch these items but now she’s considering having them put into a museum.

“…this year we’re meeting now, there’s a possibility, a strong possibility, that they may end up in the museum, because I feel like I have grown since that time, even though I gave birth to Trayvon, I just think that he is everybody’s son, and I need to share those things with everybody,” Fulton said.

She was also asked how she feels about George Zimmerman, the man who killed Martin, as well as if she’s forgiven him.

“I have not. I have not,” Fulton replied. “I know that in my own time, in my own grief and this whole grieving process that I have to forgive. But by the same token, I’m not at that point yet. I’m very honest with that. A lot of people ask me that question, and I’m very open and honest about it. I’m very real with my feelings, and I know I have not forgiven.”

In related news, Zimmerman said that he wants the names of former victims and witnesses who spoke about him for the new docu-series.

Private investigator Dennis Warren, who was hired by a company producing the doc, claims that several of the people he contacted while working on the doc are victims of Zimmerman. According to a report in The Blast, he claims that “they do not want him to know what they said about him or have any contact with him.”
