With only one week to go, Dave Chappelle‘s new stand-up specials just got a new trailer, with some assistance from his Saturday Night Live co-stars, A Tribe Called Quest. Today, the trailer went live featuring Tribe’s anthem “We The People.” The trailer reveals that the specials were recorded in Austin and Los Angeles respectively, and finds the legendary comedian waxing on a range of topics, including ISIS, O.J. Simpson and table salt being the leading killer of black folks in the US.
The specials will be his first since 2004’s For What It’s Worth, which was followed by a bit of a hiatus from the stage. In the last few years, Chappelle has been visible as ever, even stopping through local council meetings to plea with his hometown to adopt a more progressive policing strategy. He’s also challenged his fellow comedians to get sharper and more nuanced in the fight against Trump, who he claims is just “bad for comedy” in a recent interview with the CBC.
Watch the new trailer for Dave Chappelle’s two upcoming Netflix specials, scored by A Tribe Called Quest. Hold tight for the officials premiere(s) on March 21st.
