Chance The Rapper & Dwyane Wade are Teaming Up to Produce a Documentary About Basketball in Chicago
Two Chicago legends are joining forces
NBA superstar Dwyane Wade and Chance The Rapper are producing a documentary about the robust high school basketball scene in Chicago.
The documentary, which is called Shot in the Dark, will focus on two star Orr Academy star basketball players, Tyquone Greer and Marquise Pryor. In the movie we’ll see the two players fight struggles like systemic racism as they make their way through the basketball circuit.
In a press release, Dwyane Wade, who was born in Chicago, talked about the film:
“Basketball empowered me to overcome the challenges of growing up on the southside of Chicago. The odds were stacked against me, and the game changed the course of my life. It’s important to share these true stories of triumph to inspire the next generation to achieve their dreams when faced with life’s obstacles.”
In the same press release, Chance said:
“Shot in the Dark is an authentic and realistic look at high school sports in Chicago and what it means for our youth. It’s not really a game for some of us.”
The documentary is expected to air in February 2018 on Fox. The doc is part of series that Fox is doing called Magnify. The first film in the series is 89 Blocks and is debuting on November 26th.
