Lupe Fiasco is a pop star on the rise and we knew that his personality was big enough to contain both “Vans spokesperson” and “Occupy Poster Boy” comfortably–but did you know he had his won book club, too? This Q&A with High Snobiety–who caught Lupe on camera while behind the scenes at a Vans event in Berlin–goes deep on his taste in footwear, (Vans, duh), subversive literature and music, in that order. Surprisingly (or not) he talks about jazz, punk and reggae (“liberation rock” to him) a lot more than rap–but it’s his taste in books which really provides the meat of the conversation. Watch and learn.
props to HS

But did he think George Orwell was a book title?

^^^ I agree. That comment alone would turn this interview into complete BS. (Im referring to Lupe’s “George Orwell comment)
I almost lost hope!
I take the coming insurrection with me everywhere too! Its a riveting and powerful piece of literature. I’m not under baldwinsim or perhaps baldwinist but reading modern french philosophy that inspired the coming insurrection.
Anyways, lupe just earned a few respect points after losing a few weeks ago with his comment on the recently posted video ‘i’ll do it for the money’.
