Oh. SNAP. So much controversy over the fate of his record-collecting legacy, we almost forgot to pay attention to the fate of J Dilla's beat-making legacy. We've known for sometime that a post-humous collection of the many unreleased donuts was in the works--featuring a who's who of the current Detroit rap scene and titled Rebirth of Detroit. But now it appears REAL, because there is a trailer (watch above), artwork (get a glimpse after the jump) and a firm date for it's release (June 12th 2012--look for it on the official J Dilla site). Natives of the capital D (hello) may get a lump in their throat at the backdrops in the video and images of regular Detroit-ass kids repping for their much-maligned hometown...everybody else will just be psyched about the beats.
