After his turn under the Grammy lights last night, Common sat down with BET this morning in a joint interview with his mother-from-another-grandmother Maya Angelou. The discussion ranged from the N-bomb to Kanye West having Dr. Angelou’s books in the studio when he works to a poem (watch the Kanye clip after the jump and see the rest courtesy of DJ1). Meanwhile this clip of Common and Stevie Wonder teaming up at the Grammy after-bash at L.A.’s Conga Room has also just surfaced. After Common paved the way with a dramatic lyrical set-up for Stevie’s appearance, the Motown legend delivered a melodic freestyle and call-and-response with the joyful crowd over a Dilla beat (“Fall in Love”)–which made God smile, in spite of all the other bad news going around.
