Hear Tink & Timbaland's Flip Of Aaliyah's "One In A Million"

I suppose if anyone's going to put in work over an Aaliyah's classic, might as well be Timbaland and the lady he claims Baby Girl divinely ordained as her heir to the r&b throne, Tink. And that's exactly what they've done, splicing and dicing up the late r&b queen's '96 classic "One In A Million," and fitting it with a bit of an update. The result is infectious, trap-ish and really quite appetizing...but that doesn't make it right. This particular Okayplayer has an issue with the very notion, that Timbo's refitting old tunes that are treasured by the community as vestiges of an immensely talented, now dead, performer who redefined the game. And yes, of course Timbo has every right to do so, especially when the voice behind the track is one that bears such a striking resemblance to that of the fallen, but it still just doesn't seem right. For all intents and purposes, the chopped up, smoothed out "Million" is a heatwave of repurposed '90s r&b, but for some reason, it's just not sitting. Maybe I just need some more time with it, but you can put your ears to Tink & Timbaland's "Million" below. Let us know how you feel in the comment section.
