The Roots LP cover shoot

The Roots Take Us Behind The Scenes Of Their '&TYSYC' Photo Shoot [Photo Gallery]

Photos by Mel D. Cole for Villageslum.

The Roots, we may have mentioned, have a new album coming out (if we haven’t it’s called …and then you shoot your cousin). And when an artist has a new album on the way, they need a photo shoot, even if the cover art of said album is a classic collage by Romare Bearden. They talk to the press a lot. And leak songs to rap blogs. And generally engage in activities which require photos of them to be posted on the cyberweb. All of which means that our heroes had to get dressed up last week to get their pitchers taken. Though we haven’t seen those pics yet ourselves, luckily for us our own personal favorite photographer was on hand to document the vibes on the set behind the scenes of The Roots’ …&TYSYC shoot. Because apparently when he’s not balling (and bouncing) with the Okayplayer crew at the New Orleans Wax Museum, Mel D. Cole is just hanging out with The Roots. Click through the gallery of candid moments above and stay tuned for even more amazing Mel D. images from our NOLA trip soon…
