Legendary selectors Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the forthcoming Stretch & Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives documentary. Billed as "a film about quirky friends who became unlikely hip hop legends by engaging their listeners and breaking the biggest rap artists ever," the documentary produced by Omar Acosta comes 25 years after the duo's first broadcast on Columbia University station WKCR. Following the continued release of archival recordings from the show in recent months, the film is slated to feature appearances from Jay Z, Nas, B-Real and other major figures in hip-hop whose careers were launched on the groundbreaking mix program, voted “The Best Hip Hop Radio Show of All Time” by The Source Magazine in 1998. The funds raised during this campaign will be used to pay for legal expenses, licensing, merchandise, and distribution of the film in digital and DVD formats.
